A leading European railcar MRO* group contracted Lansdowne Digital to support them in defining and driving their digital strategy & transformation.  The organization lacked the required capabilities and know-how to develop a robust digital transformation strategy & roadmap and struggled with outdated IT systems and limited process standardization

Developing a bespoke vending machine reporting system for a leading Spanish vending machine operator

The Situation

A leading Spanish vending machine operator with more than 10.000 machines and 150+ logistics staff to physically control, supply and maintain its vending machines. Lansdowne Digital was tasked with optimizing its workforce intensive operations to drive cost efficiencies in a market suffering from decreasing revenues and margins

Our Approach

Lansdowne Digital helped the transformation of an old operating model by developing and implementing an entirely new digital logistics and marketing solution this included:

  • Integrating modems into all vending machines and brands to automate reporting and stock checking to increase agility and reduce $ cost of labour

  • Created a single platform to aggregate all machine data (logistics, payment and marketing data) in a central location

  • Aligned with key personnel, a reporting application has been developed to control machine logistics and product marketing information centrally

With all machines fully accessible via mobile devices, just in time logistics and marketing reporting was implemented. This breakthrough technology solution enabled the company to act with more agility based on real-time data and significantly decreased costs of inventory, manpower and transportation

Implementing industrial mobile solutions for a German railcar MRO Group

The Situation

A key part of the wheelset management optimization was an improvement to work processes across multiple maintenance centres with the aim of reducing both errors and the time spent on paperwork and administration whilst providing the staff with the information they need when they need it

Our Approach

Lansdowne Digital developed a digital strategy that was instrumental in transforming inefficient processes by identifying time-consuming and redundant steps within the workflow conducting a value stream mapping.

To facilitate this strategy, customized software solutions were developed including a bespoke mobile and desktop app to streamline admin, access and process for recording damage, maintenance schedules and invoicing

This app was designed to interface to the organisations existing ERP system to ensure a total overhaul of software was avoided

This new mobile solution increased the efficiency of data capture, quality and overall repair process from client communication to company invoicing. This system also significantly improved employee productivity and empowerment by providing them with the information they needed and removed the need to duplicate tasks (manually and then digitally)

Developing custom Electronic Data Interchange solutions for a leading German railway MRO group

The Situation

Whilst much work was done on improving the efficiency of internal platforms and processes, the final pillar in the digital transformation was increasing efficiencies between the group and their external partners to optimise areas around client communication, invoicing, purchasing and workflow. The current manual processes led to significant issues with errors and reconciliation, costing time and money

Our Approach

Lansdowne Digital developed and integrated an innovative E-invoice generator for this organisation to reduce manual input into the processes, minimize errors and shortened turnaround times for invoicing. This system focussed on three key areas

 

Importer for invoice data from the company’s ERP (tasks and articles invoiced)

 

Input mask for entering additional invoice data – Plausibility checks and data review on user’s interface

 

Generation and download of the e-invoice file

Outcome & Value Impact

Manual input into the finance and billing process was reduced by 40%, however, this reduced overall errors by 90% drastically reducing the time it took to invoice clients and pay suppliers and keeping on top of all ongoing and outgoing payments.
